Coal Forum Recent Events:

June 28/29, 2006

 

The West Virginia Coal Forum recently took part in an Energy Forum to focus on West Virginia Mine Safety.  The day before the Energy Forum, the Coal Forum sponsored a Roundtable Discussion on Seismic Miner Location. 

 

Both events were a success bringing hundreds of people together to not only learn about new safety laws and regulations, but to also help West Virginia continue to pave the way for new thinking and technologies related to miners' health and safety. More Below

West Virginia Mine Safety Task Force Report

Randall Harris (seen above/right) gave a brief review of the West Virginia Mine Safety Task Force's Report to the Director of the Office of Miners' Health, Safety and Training.  The report sets forth a series of recommendations to improve miners' health and safety.

The West Virginia Coal Forum:

WV Mine Safety Roundtable on Seismic Miner Location - JUNE 28, 2006

The West Virginia Coal Forum recently facilitated a discussion of the challenges and opportunities in using seismic technologies for locating trapped miners.  The goal was to create a roadmap that will guide immediate deployment of systems and the near and long-term development of improvements in technology and technique.

 

Over 30 selected representatives attended the roundtable representing State and Federal Regulators, Vendors, Technologist/Scientists and Responders.
